As a tribute to Veteran's Day, I spent the weekend photographing a few areas in the Presidio that were both familiar and new to me. Fortunately, I get to go to the Presidio many times a week to exercise and breathe easy while taking in some of the most picturesque vistas in all of San Francisco. With Veterans Day being today, I wanted to explore the areas that really highlight the importance of this historic area, as it was a long time military base for 219 years up until 1994. Places photographed below are Main Post, Crissy Field, historic houses and offices, as well as the San Francisco National Cemetery, which was fully decorated with flowers and flags everywhere. Exploring these places within the Presidio was a great opportunity to learn about our nation's history through the spots that protected the Bay Area. If you find yourself here, stop in at Presidio Social Club for a great meal and even better cocktails and an afternoon bowling at Presidio Bowl.
