If you are looking to add a little rustic adventure to your Santa Barbara beach style vacation, take a trip up Highway 154! About 25 minutes north of Santa Barbara through Los Padres National Forest is Cold Spring Tavern. On the first part of the drive, catch gorgeous views of Santa Barbara all the way to the Pacific Ocean. A unique and now hidden gem was once a stagecoach stop for travelers to grab a bite to eat and change their horses in 1865. Once you turn off highway 154 and drive down the windy, sun filled road, you will see the tavern within a shady grove. Stop in for their famous chilli, delicious tri-tip sandwiches and refreshing iced tea. Cold Spring Tavern is definitely worth the trek up highway 154 for a super great meal. Head there on Sundays for quite the lively atmosphere!
