Happy New Year! I am finally back and settled in San Francisco after spending two weeks in Ketchum, Idaho-- a beautiful and simple town to start a fresh new year in. Between the snow showers, shooting stars and endless picturesque beauty, a trip here will leave you feeling refreshed. Days were spend hitting the mountain snowboarding, breathing in chilly air and ending with the sounds of a warm crackling fire. A little past the main Sun Valley Inn is the small, mountain town I got to celebrate a very important birthday, Christmas and New Years. It was truly a winter wonderland, with snow covered trees, streets (and cars) and friendly folks everywhere I turned. Later this week, I will take you on a tour of downtown Ketchum, but for now, won't you take a walk with me in a winter wonderland? At the base of the Sawtooth National Forest in the heart of Idaho, I spent my second day of the trip exploring the rivers and the mountains...alone with my camera. I found there is something magical about wandering through the tall trees and making your own path by yourself in the midst of never ending snowfall. It was quite liberating to be in a place unfamiliar. Every turn I took, every step I wandered, my desire to keep trekking through the snow grew stronger. For many, the thought of going out and witnessing nature's beauty with no one beside you may seem lonely or boring, but for me, I've never had a problem adventuring by myself. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love embarking on these types of adventures with my loved ones, but every once in a while it's nice to take a break and experience moments independently, especially in the midst of the holiday season where there seems to never be any alone time. Maybe it's my extroverted personality wanted to take a short rest or my never ending desire to get outside and play, but whatever it is, I'm glad to have explored on my own this day, it was certainly one of the most beautiful adventures I've accomplished. And afterwards? I enjoyed a delicious Sun Valley Coffee with everyone I was with on the trip with inside the beautiful Warm Springs Lodge. This stunning area and surrounding photographs were taken in Ketchum, Idaho in the Warm Springs area at the base of Bald Mountain. At the bottom of the mountain lies gorgeous homes with smoking chimneys, a cozy restaurant with a mountain feel to it (Apples Bar and Grill) and of course, the chairlift that takes you all the way up the mountain for some of the most steep slopes on the mountain. How did you spend your holiday time? What are your goals and outlook on 2015? Share your thoughts below in the comment section, chat on Twitter, follow me on Instagram and stay connected through Facebook. Don't forget to check back later this week for a tour of downtown Ketchum and photographs from another day exploring snowy Idaho! Thanks for reading!

Wow! What gorgeous photography. I adore these shots, because we didn't have snow this year. And, although I don't like the cold that comes with it, snow is such beautiful and peaceful scenery. It's chllling, in a really, really good way!

Hi Kristi, Thanks for stopping by and for the sweet words. I agree with you...the cold can be hard to handle but as long as you have the right clothing on it can be someone bearable! I couldn't help but display all the images I took...I agree, the snow is so peaceful!
