The past two weeks have consisted of soaking in the sunshine, swimming in the ocean and digging my toes in the bright white sand of Panama City Beach! The soft winds, heavy flash rain storms and overall bliss during my time there was an excellent way to kickoff summer. Our colorful, bright green beach house we called home during the trip was absolute perfection and the ability to walk across the street and dive into the turquoise waters was just the trip I had been looking forward to. The pastel beach houses, beach shops and restaurants are the main attractions to this side of Florida.
Our skin quickly began to get sun kissed, so we took a day off at the beach and headed 45 minutes north of Panama City Beach to explore the Econfina River. We had a one of a kind experience canoeing the seven miles along the river, stopping at crystal clear natural springs. The water was absolutely gorgeous, I only wish I could have brought my camera to share with you all! True to the south's reputation, we were hit with a huge rain, thunder and lighting storm while on the river. Eventually we stopped and found shelter in a barn after the huge storm hit and once we realized it was not stopping anytime soon, we got back in our canoes and continued on. The green mossy trees, lush ferns and plants and humid air was a constant reminder that we were in the south and I was loving every minute of it! After a week in Florida, we traveled towards Georgia's Smokey Mountains to watch my cousin and his love marry at the beautiful DeBarge Vineyards. For a moment, I felt as if I was sipping wine in the valleys of Sonoma!
