Another great place to walk along the bluffs, across rain road tracks and onto the beach is at The Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary. Roam the Coastal Vista Trail that overlooks the ocean from a view of Harbor Seals bathing in the sunshine and playing in the ocean. The day I went, it was coudly and cold, but for the most part Carpinteria has the same mild climate as Santa Barbara. To get here, head south from Santa Barbara for 11 miles and then you will reach Carpinteria, an oceanside town with small downtown collection of shops and restaurants. If you happen to be in the area the first week of October, then be sure to check out the annual Avocado Festival. For more information on The Seal Sanctuary check out the website here and be sure to head to downtown and check out Santa Clause Lane Beach.
