Ocean bluffs may just be my favorite place to be. From waking up early to catch a sunrise, to relaxing on the flower filled hills, and watching the sunset, its all so peaceful and great to be one with nature. In Goleta, a small town north of downtown Santa Barbara, hike the Ellwood bluffs to a Monarch Butterfly Reserve while listening to the sea. If you can, try to visit during the months of November to February to witnesses thousands of Monarch Butterflies. This spot is a particularly great place to watch the sunset with friends, family or a loved one. The long stretch of land provides breathtaking views, best of all- it's rarely crowded and the few wooden benches along the cliffs make it a great place to sit and enjoy. Or do what I did and pack a picnic blanket, snacks and a beverage. Click here to learn more about the Goleta Monarch Butterfly grove, parking and weather conditions. Even if don't happen to be here during the months of the butterflies, it is still a gorgeous (and free) place to rest your feet.
