As if Marin County wasn't beautiful enough, there is Point Reyes National Seashore. Drive through Samuel P. Taylor's tall redwoods with the sun beaming through the trees and then stop at the historic Point Reyes Shipwreck to enjoy a cool breeze and organic sandwiches.
Next, head North all the way to Tomales Point to the famous Tule Elk Reserve. The country road that will take you there may be sunny, but for us it was full of thick, white fog that made the adventure truly majestic as tiny, yellow roadside flowers showed their beauty along the dirt paths. On the other side of a wooden fence, hundreds of (happy) California cows graze the open fields. Woodpecker trail is another area to explore along the Bear Valley Trail. Through the woods, deep into the trees, the crisp air and crunchy leaves were all part of the fun as the sound of Woodpeckers lined the back trail. The fog created a perfect misty background for some photographs and fun along the dirt trail as we listened to the ocean crash against the rocks. After, we headed to Limantour Beach to actually catch a glimpse of that beautiful ocean! When we arrived, the sun was creating a gorgeous, late afternoon glow along the water. The coastline and untouched sand seemed to go on forever. I could've spent all day there. The day finished off with a chilled Lagunitas at The Old Western Saloon in Point Reyes Station. You could easily spend an entire weekend roaming trails, tidepooling, and enjoying different kinds of landscapes that Point Reyes offers!
