After almost fully recovering from a wrist injury, I am back in the kitchen and getting the chance to cook (and bake) once again! With this being said, I still need a little help with things like opening jars and such, but I am so thankful to have finally tried out Blue Apron during this time where excessive measuring is not ideal. I received three meals from the delivery service and I'm sharing my favorite recipe with you, the Turkey Chili with Avocado. It was the day after my birthday that my Blue Apron box arrived and I was relieved because after a trip to Sonoma, my fridge was close to empty and the last thing I wanted to do was go to the grocery store when I returned back to San Francisco. To my surprise, my Blue Apron box wasn't delivered until 7:45 in the evening, but that may be part of city living. An important thing to note is that the food is all packaged in a refrigerated box so even if you're not home when it's delivered, your food will not perish. I received three different meals for two and have to say the the first one I made (Blue Apron's take on Corned Beef and Cabbage) wasn't the best. The steak received seemed to be a low quality cut of meat and no matter how much extra spices I added, the meal was just okay. Nonetheless, John and I had a really fun time unpacking the ingredients and cooking together. We've been stuck in a somewhat rotating menu here at home and it was nice to get some inspiration from new recipes! Another meal I prepared was a Baked Fontina Pasta with Sage Breadcrumbs, which was absolutely delicious. It's a vegetarian meal so I added some grilled chicken of my own and laid the pasta over it to ensure the sage breadcrumbs and the Fontina béchamel sauce was shown. The final meal we made and enjoyed was the Turkey Chili. It was the most simple of the recipes and required the least amount of prep time. It has been for some time now that I wanted to make my own chili and I appreciate all the ingredients in this recipe in particular. First off, I was happy to see that the recipe calls for ground turkey in place of ground beef. I also loved that it came with all the essential toppings (minus sour cream) and the avocado was necessary for a girl that eats an avocado a day! It's great that everything is already measured for you when it's delivered, but the idea of excess packaging waste definitely crossed my mind. Looking past that, all the ingredients were still fresh even after these particular ingredients were in my refrigerator for a few days. After learning that each menu entree is between 500 to 700 calories per person, I liked the idea of Blue Apron even more! Similar to many subscription services, the meal plan is flexible depending on how many people you are feeding, what your schedule is like on a particular week, and of course, the meals will be catered to your specific dietary needs. Have you cooked with Blue Apron before? What was your opinion of the entire process? Have you ever tried any other meal delivery services? For daily inspiration let's connect on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! Related Posts This post was made possible in partnership with Blue Apron. As always, all opinions are my own.

I've been trying out Forage and recently did a Blue Apron one as well. :) It's good for those who are in a rush and just don't have time to think of what they're going to eat next. I also like that everything's portioned out, so you don't end up with too much of it. I'll have to post my experience of it soon.
