Dirt roads, s'mores, sleeping under the stars, a crackling fire and all that goes along with camping happened to be the perfect Labor Day Weekend getaway. Sure, we could have stuck around the city for a staycation or even could have stayed close and taken advantage of the beaches that dot highway one, but this particular weekend was meant to be in the mountains... By day, jumping in for a quick dip in the swimming hole was so refreshing and also quite necessary. The clear water surrounded by boulders with the constant flow of fresh water made this spot extra special to spend the day at. When the sun began to set, we headed back to our campsite for dinner under string lights hung from tree to tree. A little touch of glam to the area made it magical and romantic as we breathed fresh air deep into our lungs. One thing I was so thankful that I brought was cold brew! It was so nice to have iced coffee (in a mason jar, of course) in the early morning hours to prepare for the day's hike to the swimming hole and beyond. Awaking in the morning with coffee in the tent with little to no sounds was so peaceful and just the refreshing weekend trip I was hoping to gain from leaving the city. The temperature dropped moment by moment in the evenings and I was happy I had John to snuggle up and sip wine with. On the second night of the trip. we went on a starlight walk across rickety bridges and on to steep boulders to come across an old telescope which is permanently angled at the North Star. Breathing easy and free as we held hands between the tall trees as the moonlight guided our way really was a highlight of my summer. Do you have a favorite camping story or memory? LOVE this. I enjoy camping (but nothing too intense! ;)), and these snapshots are making me feel as though I can smell those sweet trees and that cool air again.

This is so dreamy and beautiful and makes me want to jump up from my office chair, grab some cold brew, mason jars, a beautiful blanket and head for the mountains. Seriously, how genius is that cold brew idea? That solves my number one problem when camping or over-nighing anywhere -- delicious coffee immediately in the morning! I want to go now. Your blog always makes me want to get outdoors asap ^_^
